Social and Emotional Development
Jennifer helps parents conquer behavior obstacles that make daily life difficult.
She uses the Family Hope Centerās assessment tool to pinpoint a childās brain-based abilities and plan daily challenges that are within a childās reach. She helps parents stimulate their childrenās social-emotional development, guide their learning, and discipline them effectively. She incorporates a range of methods to bring out childrenās best thinking, inner motivation, emotional calm, and self-control.
She has special expertise in supporting parents of children diagnosed with autism and other social challenges, carefully considering each childās unique way of understanding and operating in the world.
She has worked with parents and children for more than 35 years. Before joining the Family Hope Center in 2010, she worked with families in a variety of medical, mental health, and educational settings. She holds an M.S. in Education fromĀ Bank Street College of Education. She is a graduate of theĀ Infant-Parent Mental Health FellowshipĀ at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She has been certified as a consultant in Relationship Development InterventionĀ® and has trained in the Social Storiesā¢ method, both of which support children diagnosed with autism.
